About Sorana
The person behind
the practice.
Sorana is the private practice of Dr. Elena Marsh, a licensed clinical psychologist who believes the most profound human need is to feel truly seen. Everything here, from the room to the rhythm of sessions, is built around that belief.
My story
Why I do this work
I did not come to psychology through textbooks first. I came to it through watching people I loved carry things they could not name. The textbooks came later, at Stanford, and they gave language and method to what I already knew mattered: being witnessed changes what we can bear.
After more than a decade in private practice, I have sat with hundreds of people through grief, anxiety, new marriages, old wounds, and quiet seasons of simply not feeling like themselves. What I have learned is that healing rarely announces itself. It arrives in small, repeatable moments of feeling safe enough to be honest.
My approach weaves together Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, somatic awareness, and a genuine curiosity about your story. We work at your rhythm, building trust before we build anything else.
Training and credentials
Grounded in rigor,
delivered with warmth.
The space
A room that feels
like an exhale.
The Sorana studio sits on a quiet street in Northwest Portland: soft chairs, warm light, plants that are doing their best. It is designed to feel less like a clinic and more like the living room of someone who is glad you came.

"Healing doesn't mean forgetting. It means finding space to breathe again."
